How Long Is The Mold Remediation Process?
Mold can begin to grow in your home due to a leak, due to moisture in the air, or due to basement flooding or previous moisture. When mold gets in, you’ll need to get it out, as your only other option is risking the property damage and the health risks that come along with allowing the mold to continue to grow. When provided with moisture, a cellulose food source, and warmth, mold will thrive, and the only way to stop this mold from thriving is to go through a process called mold remediation.
One question we’re often asked regarding mold remediation is “How long does it take?” Of course you’ll want to get your home back, and of course you’ll want your home to be free of mold as quickly as possible, but proper mold remediation takes some time, particularly if your home’s mold problem has grown out of control or you’re working with a particularly difficult strain. There are hundreds of thousands of different molds, and perhaps even more, and mold growth astonishingly fast in the right conditions – conditions that can be found easily in your basement.
The first step in the mold remediation process is testing the mold, and determining what type of mold we’re working with. This can allow us to find the best and most effective mold remediation treatment possible, so you have the best chance of eliminating your mold and keeping it from coming back.
Once your mold has been tested, and we have determined what type of mold is growing, the span of time it takes to get rid of it will depend on what type of mold we’re working with and how much. Typically, and on average, a mold remediation process will take anywhere from 1 to 5 days to complete, and once the mold is gone, we recommend waterproofing your space to avoid it coming back due to continued exposure to moisture.
